As you can tell from the rest of this blog, we are a camping family. That said, my wife and I had a chance to escape for a Valentine’s weekend trip. We chose the Davidson Village Inn, in Davidson, NC, for a couple of reasons:
We arrived on a Friday night and were instantly greeted by a smiling face. The on-duty manager welcomed us back to the inn (yes, she already knew we were returning visitors) and proceeded to ask about us before giving us a locally-made chocolate bar in the shape of the bronze marker outside of the inn with the Davidson Village Inn, along with a hand-written note from the new owner of the inn thanking us for returning.
The note honestly took less than five minutes to write, yet it was such a thoughtful gift and it meant a lot to us. Lots of places…LOTS of places…could learn a lot from taking note if this small symbol of thanks.
The inn itself is nestled in the old downtown section of Davidson, NC, directly across the street from Davidson College. (If you have ever heard of Steph Curry, All-Star guard for the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, it is his alma mater.) The lobby is quaint, filled with books and tasteful decorations and warm fireplace. There are only 18 total rooms in the inn, so it does give off more of a bed and breakfast fare than your typical hotel would.
